Abstract

The paper analyzes the results of a field study applied in 2016 to assess the efficacy of the legislation that governs organized faiths in Chile as religious entities. The verification standard of their qualitative effectiveness is the establishment of the principles of equality and religious freedom. The aim is to contribute to the multidisciplinary analysis of the way in which the State has recognized the relevance of religion in Chilean society since the approval of the Law on Worship in 1999, taking into account the extent of knowledge of the current legal regime regarding the legal acknowledgement or constitution of religious organization, the perceived satisfaction of beneficiaries with their regulatory content and an attempt to provide a typology of Chilean religious entities
